On April 23, 2019, Weijia Power organized a visit for some of its spare parts customers and the Weijia Power parts sales team to the Perkins Engine Co., Ltd. factory located in Wuxi, China. Perkins has a history of over 85 years and is one of the world's leading suppliers of diesel and gas engines. Its goal is to set excellent engineering standards and provide the most comprehensive innovative and reliable power solutions tailored to the exact requirements of customers.

The Perkins Wuxi factory is located in the Wuxi National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. It is a highly automated manufacturing plant with an engine R&D center inside. The total plant area exceeds 50,000 square meters, with an annual production capacity of over 70,000 engines. More than 500 Perkins colleagues work here. The factory has two production lines, mainly focusing on the 400 and 1100 series engines.

When stepping off the bus, three prominent name plaques stand at the company entrance—"Wuxi Perkins Small Engine Co., Ltd.", "Perkins", and "Wuxi Perkins Power Systems Technology Co., Ltd." Along with five tall flags (Perkins, UK, China, USA, CAT) fluttering in the wind, the scene is very grand.

—The impressive and eye-catching company signage, the bright and orderly factory layout guidance, the clean and comfortable roads, and the friendly and polite Perkins employees form the first impression of the Perkins Wuxi factory.

During this visit, we learned and experienced much about Perkins factory's rigorous attention to detail, intelligent technology, and people-oriented work attitude and style. Now, let me carefully introduce to you our trip's "Four Wears, Three Meetings, Two Observations, One Culture" 。

• Four Wears:

Safety awareness always holds an important position at the Perkins Wuxi factory. Therefore, before visiting the production area, you must wear four items: safety shoe covers, protective glasses, insulating gloves, and radio headphones. Don't want to wear them? Sorry, you absolutely cannot enter.

• Three Meetings:

Besides a comprehensive and in-depth visit to the 1100 series engine production area, we also held three meetings in the Wuxi factory conference room, which were

1. Perkins brand and global aftermarket strategy meeting;

2. Perkins local models and technical support meeting;

3. Weijia Power parts aftermarket meeting.

At the meetings, we were honored to invite Ms. Rachel Chen, Perkins North Asia Parts Manager, and Mr. Heaton Wang, Perkins Asia-Pacific Product Support Manager, to share and exchange with us on topics including Perkins brand introduction, trademark usage, global parts strategy, Perkins Wuxi factory model cases, and technical support. Then, the Weijia Power after-sales manager discussed the current parts market development and planning with the parts customers and sales representatives present, exploring the development of the parts aftermarket.

• Two Observations

The production area is divided into two parts: internal and external. The external area is the engine showroom. Upon seeing the engines, our customers and parts colleagues' professional enthusiasm immediately ignited; they carefully studied the introduction content and examined the displayed engine structures together. The showroom neatly displays 1104 and 1106 engines mainly from the 1100 series, accompanied by engine descriptions to help visitors better understand the structure and performance of the 1100 series engines.

The internal area is the 1100 series engine production plant. The plant strictly implements 5S standard management: clean, tidy, and orderly. Perkins thoughtfully arranged two excellent colleagues to provide explanations—Tony Li, production manager of the 1100 series plant, and Jack Li, production supervisor. We split into two teams to visit the 40-cylinder and 60-cylinder production lines respectively. The factory invested tens of millions in purchasing globally leading mechanical/electronic automation equipment. Ninety percent of the assembly line processes are completed by mechanical and electronic automation, and ten percent are done manually. Even the ten percent manual processes are executed under electronic monitoring and analysis to prevent errors and ensure zero assembly process defects. According to assembly process requirements, from manually installing engine body parts, to fully intelligent robotic installation and parameter recording, then through intelligent equipment inspection, engine testing operation, anti-rust and painting treatment, and finally qualified inspection before shipment.

Throughout the entire visit and learning process, one can feel Perkins factory's meticulous control over installation and management details, the introduction of intelligent technological equipment, and the innovation strength in technical R&D, all striving for precision and strict quality control!

• One Culture

A people-oriented management culture. During the factory visit, you will see many public notices: monthly outstanding employee selection, dedicated suggestion columns, employee activity culture corridors, all designed to encourage continuous improvement, timely problem identification and solution proposals, and to enhance employee unity and cohesion. Whether it is registering and consulting for factory entry permits or queuing for meals in the factory canteen, Perkins colleagues always respond with the warmest and most comfortable smiles. The factory cares for employees everywhere with a people-first approach, and employees always adhere to their posts and integrate into the team. This is the most harmonious and solid management culture.

In this most beautiful season, we visited Perkins China's strongest Wuxi factory and experienced meticulous management in safety, precision, technology, and culture.
