Trevor Toulson, Perkins Power Generation Business Strategy Director, talks about how the expanded lineup of the 400 Series engines supports the growing telecommunications industry.

Q: Please introduce Perkins' positioning in the global telecommunications market?

Trevor Toulson:

Perkins is one of the world's leading engine manufacturers and a leader in the non-road diesel and natural gas engine market with power ranging from 4 to 2000 kW. For many years, Perkins has been committed to supporting the telecommunications industry. Its subsidiary Chongnu developed the 400 Series engines which feature a strong lineup of many compact and highly reliable engine models, especially suitable for driving small generator sets, capable of handling harsh and remote working environments even with frequent challenges.

Q: Could you reveal how Perkins power solutions support this industry? What measures does the company take to minimize maintenance personnel site visits and the required maintenance workload?

Trevor Toulson:

Customers choosing Perkins engines are guaranteed the highest quality and most reliable products with stable performance. Our engines help telecom service operators save on operating costs, have extremely low fuel consumption, and high durability, allowing operation in any region.

Perkins' new solutions for the telecommunications industry are based on its core product, the 400 Series engines, expanding the lineup by adding two variable-speed engine models dedicated to generator sets which are 1.5-liter and 2.2-liter displacement With these models, Perkins can become the ideal partner for telecom customers.

We can now offer constant-speed and variable-speed engines ranging from 0.5 liters to 2.2 liters in displacement to meet all major power points within the 5-40 kVA range.

We clearly understand the operational characteristics of the telecommunications industry and know that telecom operators in different regions have different requirements. Currently, telecom customers tend to focus on controlling operating expenses and increasingly demand reducing the operating costs of telecom towers. In response, we actively research extending engine maintenance intervals to help customers take an important step toward cost savings.

We also know that regulators worldwide require the telecommunications industry to minimize the environmental impact of their operations. We support these long-term goals and are committed to providing hybrid power solutions These solutions are suitable not only for hybrid generator sets equipped with batteries but also for units combining batteries and solar power. These solutions directly help our customers comply with local regulations regardless of the region they operate in.

Q: What advantages does Perkins have compared to other engine manufacturers?

Trevor Toulson:

Perkins has a complete product lineup, with diesel engines reaching up to 2500 kVA and gas engines up to 1000 kWE (continuous power).

Stable performance, high reliability, and cost-effective engines are essential in the power generation equipment market. Perkins' R&D team has extensive expertise, and their design goal has remained unchanged for years: to always prioritize product longevity and responsiveness, enabling continuous operation for thousands of hours without shutdown in any harsh public environment or location.

These engines have proven their 100% trustworthy superior performance through thousands of hours of actual operation and have been favored by many discerning power suppliers. Every Perkins engine leaving the factory is supported by Perkins' global product support network. The global network, composed of over 100 Perkins dealers, covers more than 180 countries and regions worldwide. If power equipment manufacturers demand absolutely reliable, cost-effective, and outstanding performance engines, I believe Perkins is the inevitable choice today and in the future.

We, Weijia Power, continue to uphold Perkins' development direction in China, providing our extensive OEM customers with the highest quality, latest, and most professional technical support and after-sales service.
