  Case Study: The Importance of Proper Cooling System Maintenance

  One of our customers operating machinery in an African mine compared engine parts using Perkins ELC with those using a mixture of water and SCA.

  After 5300 hours, engine cylinder liners using traditional coolant showed pitting corrosion that penetrated the inner wall. The same engine's injector sleeves had deposits and severe pitting, and the water pump was heavily corroded.

  Engines using Perkins ELC in the radiator showed significantly better results, even with nearly double the operating time – 10,013 hours. The coolant side of the cylinder liners looked like new, and the injector sleeves were in very good condition.
