1 Carefully perform the break-in process for the diesel engine. Before leaving the factory, the engine generally undergoes a cold run-in, but after leaving the factory and before use, it is necessary to gradually increase the load and speed until reaching the rated value for break-in, to improve the quality of the friction surfaces and achieve the optimal roughness. When the engine is disassembled for maintenance, a certain period of break-in should also be conducted according to the situation.
1 Conscientiously perform the break-in work of the diesel engine
Before leaving the factory, the engine generally undergoes cold dragging and grinding, but after leaving the factory and before use, it is necessary to gradually increase the load and speed until reaching the rated value for break-in, to improve the quality of the friction surfaces and achieve the best roughness. When the engine is disassembled for maintenance, a certain period of break-in should also be performed according to the situation.
2 Ensure assembly quality is qualified when repairing diesel engines
The replaced parts must be cleaned thoroughly, and the clearance between the cylinder liner and piston must be appropriate. The installation requirements of the piston rings (three gaps, light leakage, and the position of each ring gap, etc.) must be met to ensure the piston centerline is perpendicular to the crankshaft axis.
3 Strengthen the lubrication system's maintenance , ensuring the engine oil is clean
The quantity and quality of the engine oil in the oil pan should be checked regularly, and oil should be added or replaced in a timely manner. Before adding, the oil must be fully settled and filtered; the refueling site and equipment must be clean; the oil tank filler should be equipped with a filter screen. Before changing the oil, the old oil must be completely drained and the lubrication system thoroughly cleaned. Mixing different types of oil is strictly prohibited. The oil filter must be checked and cleaned regularly according to the manual. During operation, the oil pressure should be monitored at all times.
4 Strengthen the fuel supply system's maintenance maintenance, ensuring the combustible mixture is clean
Regularly check and add fuel to the fuel tank. Before adding, the fuel must be settled and filtered; the site and equipment used for adding fuel must be clean. The air filter should be maintained regularly according to technical requirements. It is strictly forbidden to operate the diesel engine without an air filter.

5 Strengthen the maintenance of the cooling system to ensure the diesel operates at an appropriate temperature
During diesel engine operation, pay attention to the coolant temperature and address any issues promptly; regularly check the coolant, coolant level, and fan belt tension; additionally, the coolant added must be soft water.
6 Master the correct cold start method
When starting a cold engine, especially in cold seasons, the formation conditions of the lubricating oil film on the cylinder liner surface are poor. Therefore, before starting, it is best to manually rotate the crankshaft about 20 turns or use the starting device to turn the crankshaft for about 10 seconds. Start the engine only after oil pressure is established, and take necessary warming measures according to the characteristics of the diesel engine and environmental conditions.
7 Avoid sudden changes in operating conditions as much as possible
When the diesel engine is just started, do not immediately operate at full load; before shutting down, let the engine run at low speed for about 3 minutes; it is strictly forbidden to suddenly accelerate the throttle just after starting or before shutting down; during operation, speed and load changes should not be too abrupt to avoid frequent starts.
8 Strictly prohibit long-term overload and prolonged idling operation
When the diesel engine operates under overload, the engine temperature rises rapidly, oil viscosity decreases, and the lubricating oil film is easily damaged. Long-term overload operation may cause adhesive wear on the cylinder liner. Prolonged idling causes low engine temperature, accelerating corrosion and wear of the cylinder liner. Idling time generally should not exceed 10 minutes.
9 Avoid unnecessary fuel supply as much as possible
Before cold start warm-up rotation or technical maintenance, the throttle must be closed because when the crankshaft rotates, the fuel injection pump generates high-pressure oil, which is injected into the cylinder through the injector. Some fuel flows down the cylinder wall, diluting the oil and oil film on the cylinder wall, and the fuel inside the cylinder makes subsequent starting difficult and combustion rough. When checking and adjusting the fuel advance angle, the throttle should also be closed at the start. After the crankshaft reaches the correct position, the throttle can be set to maximum fuel supply.
